89 radio

hey guys,

I know this has been discussed before. But I thought Id ask incase something hasnt been covered.

I want to install a new radio in my 89 silverado. Problem is its hard to find aftermarket radios for this small space in the radio's current location. Id like to keep the same location.

So does anyone have:
wiring diagram of the wires pertaining to the radio.
a good aftermarket radio that will fit this location.

thanks!

Re: 89 radio

Just put one in my "new" '88 a few months ago. I think the best thing to do is get the new dash piece in the center where the 2 a/c outlets are. That gives you a standard opening for the stereo. The dash piece is about $12-15. Walmart sells them. If pulling the factory radio leaves you with a small opening above the heater controls, you can buy a box to put in there from ckresto.com.

Re: 89 radio

The small radio is called a DIN and a half. Very few places have them but they are available. JC whitney has them in their catalog. I have a wiring diagram for a '92 if you think that will help. It is in PDF format and can be sent E-mail, let me know. Chip
