"junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
Went and looked at what will be my son Justins, first truck yesterday!! Its a 69 chevy stepside. Its got a 350 with a 350 automatic, elect. fan, hei. Dont know alot of the fancy lingo for all the mechanical stuff, lol. But its a great starter truck for him. Its definetly a project truck, it need ALOT of things, but mostly minor thing that I can get right here on the board. Engine runs strong, but smokes a bit when you start it up. Has the heater core, but needs everything inside the cab to make it work, PO tore out most of everything under the dash, so alot of things, (fan, lights, wipers) are on toggle(?) switches. Hes gonna need alot of help with the wiring and such, little things like the speedometer dont work. I dont know whos more excited about it,him or me, lol.
The body is in good shape too, has a little surface rust, but nothing he cant take care of easily. Im gonna get him signed on here sometime after he gets his truck, yall will prolly be hearing alot from him, he is 16 years old, his name is Justin.

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
He will have alot of fun with it. I always wished that I bought an older truck right from the get go but we have to be more logical up here due to all of the winter driving months. I am sure that he will get all of the help that he wants plus some on here as well. Good luck.

That's good to hear Jodie, congrats Justin. I know your mom will watch out for you. And you'll have this board to answer "all" your questions.

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
Sweet, I remember a couple years ago he was asking me about 3rd gen Novas...
Justin, I think you'll like the truck better man. Easier to work on and WAY cheaper and easier when it comes to getting parts. Plus, once you get good working on yours, you can help and fix up mom's truck. A 69 step.... one of the best looking models they made. Jodie... you gotta get him one of the hot wheels trucks now. |

Congrats Justin, not only do you have a cool mom, but you now have a cool truck. BTW my first truck was a 69 stepside, so I know what it's like.

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
Great news Jodie. Sounds like it doesn't need much right off the bat to be a good driver. Heaters aren't all THAT necessary. My first car was a dune buggy which had NO heater and I drove that car all year round and had the time of my life doing it. Congrats to you and son.

A heater isn't all that important down there, but a defroster is.

Good luck with the new driver, you're gonna need it. I've recently been through it twice, and am happy I don't have a third.

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
Ya, it would have been nice at times but it didn't have any kind of heat. Looking back I don't know how I kept from getting pneumonia. I often wonder where that car is today. Even at my age I still wish I had kept it.

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
We dont have any pics yet, some one is gonna have to refresh me on posting pics here, its been forever, and last time I tried, I couldnt get it to come up.
I have went and checked out the truck, I am buying it for him. He is gonna go look at it and drive it on Saturday, give it the final approval. I told him if he thinks he wants something that dont require so much work, that we could keep looking. So the final decision is his, but hes pretty excited. I wish he had a truck buddy near by, hell i wish I had a truck buddy nearby, lol... I guess we'll learn together. Thanks yall, Ill keep you updated!!

Re: "junkie jr" getting his first truck!!
My kids drive older chevy trucks. Older son started in '77 chevy. Will soon move to 69. Daughter will start in the '77(less of a lose than 69). Can't put my kids in the new rolling coffins!
