Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
Here is a link to an ebay auction for some literature on a '68 Chevy Open Road Motorhome like the one Dan72cst and Chris H have. This is great stuff for anyone restoring one of these old critters. I would grab it myself but americanrider and I parted the Open Road we got.

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
I parted mine too. The truck stuff was good, but the camper was rotten. I still got the mud flaps that say "open road".

This is not literature, is the box from an old plastic model. The model kits are quite expensive, so it might be worth some money? I see we have a member bidding, so I will stay out. Has anyone ever seen any actual literature from Open Road?? I would pay huge money for factory literature on mine!

OOOPS! I guess I did not look at closely enough. I have found some pretty rare literature on ebay but it took me over a year to find it!

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
Wow, that guy has some neat models, why did he make four 69 Coronet police cars?? I had a 69 Super Bee, tempting.
I see Open Road didn't care what truck they put their campers on, Chevy Gmc, Ford, Dodge, IH, Interesting.

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
Yeah, but they had the "Big Deal" with GM back then.As with any frame-mount,an individual could have their favorite brand converted. But,Open Roads were offered direct from your GM dealer and the had the class"A"s,too.
Fine69 had this kit (incomplete) for sale a while back in the "Other Things For Sale" section.

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
Sad thing is, the camper costs more than the truck.
Few years back, there was a GMC open road camped parked beside somones house. 1-ton dually, humoingus, probably 20" truck wheels. Dont know what become of it though. |

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
Back in high school auto shop, the teacher had an Open Road motorhome, on a '65 Chevy C-30 chassis. I used to see a lot of Open Road motorhomes and van conversions. They seemed to prefer Chevy and GMC chassis over the Dodges everyone else was using back then.

Re: Open Road Chevy Motorhome Literature
I do remember one part of the GMC camper I saw. It had the large 6-lug two-ton truck bolt pattern for the front wheels. Like what you would see on a 50's 2 ton. Thought that was a little odd.
