Best way to remove locking gas cap (other than key!)
Just got a new project home and this one came with no keys.
It has a locking gas cap and I was curious if anyone had any hints or suggestions on how I could remove it without messing up the tank. Any info is appreciated. Thanks. |

Most of the time you can grab some channel lock pliers, and turn the cap right off. The locking ones on these trucks aren't really all that great, kind of like putting the club on your steering wheel.

I dont use the key on mine normally. Just give it a firm pull to one side and off it pops.

for locks in general, you can use a small drill bit to drill out the brass tumblers. Be careful to not break the bit, nothing stronger than a broken bit, aside from a broken EZ out!!

I can shove mine to one side and jerk on the opposite side and it will come off. Am ready to go back to regular cap. No security at all.

Yep..... second on the big screw driver.... just drive it in & unscrew the cap...... this will mess up the keyway but, you can still use the cap.
