I am replacing my upper ball joints in my 72 c-10 my question is on the new replacement ball joints do the thin metal bracket that holds the rubber grease cup go on top next to the ball joint assembly on top or below the the ball joint housing above the steering knuckle. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also when heater is first turned on the heater blower fan squawls and screeches like its binding. Any ideas on this? Any body with any ideas on these two problems in this thread?
Thanks for any help |

Drop the ball joint in from the top and the grease boot goes underneath the arm. Put the bolts through the whole mess to sandwich it together.
Drill a tiny hole in the blower motor and lube it. Do a search under my name and blower motor. I posted on here just a few weeks ago where I did this same thing and how to do it. It was likely under a "what did you get donw this weekend" thread.

what he said is good // but you might also want to remove the blower an fan wheel assy from the housing and take a shop vac and clean out 35 years of accumulated crap to give yourself a better air flow thru the system

As far as the blower motor goes, $18 or less and you have a new one and it blows twice as good as a the old one you have in your truck.

That's the thread. Thanks for digging it up.
I can't argue that a new motor may be better, but I am doing this truck as cheap as possible. Plus, I live an hour from a parts store, so that's like over 10 bucks of fuel just to go get one.
