hey i have a 71 gmc and i wana know if its posible to change the box to a shot and how much work it is. is it a matter of changing the traling arms and drive shaft and fabing up some shock mounts and clerance for the diff and cutting off the exter frame. or do i need a compleet short box frame.

Thanks for the great info that helps alot looks like i hafto start looking for a short box now.

has any one modified a long box flet side into a short box what r the exact damentons for the short box infront of the wheel well and behind. i can do the body work but to buy a short box its a lot of $$$ so im going to do the long box to short box frame chop. because my long box is in good condition i will try and modifi it so i dont hafto empty my savings acount to get one, any body have any tips or tricks for this prosess. im talking about the box itself not the frame.

Before cutting up a good long bed you may want to research on the site some more. I'm sure there are plenty of board members who would be interrested in buying it, trading and/or able to assist you in locating a short box. if you need to...you need to but, you may get lucky.
