Title transfer
How do you transfer a title from one state to other in whitch state do you have it noterized in. Do I just sing the title and mail it to the buyer. Or do I have to have it noterized in my state.

Re: Title transfer
According to the KY dept of MV, the only states that require a title to be norarized are: Arizona, KY, Louisiana, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.
What gets interesting is those states that don't even have titles on older vehicles like Alabama. Not sure how you can protect yourself from buying a stolen vehicle from those states? It's always a good idea to check with your state for their requirements ie. in Kentucky, if you buy a vehicle from out of state, unless you use a KY vehicle transfer document and have it notorized from the state you are buying it from (with the purchase price), they will charge you sales tax and annual fees based on THEIR BOOK OF RESTORED VALUE!!!! So if I buy a 68 chev truck in Ohio for $300. with just it's title and notarized---I wind up paying KY 6% of their restored value--(say maybe $4500.) TAX= $270. which is just BS but that's what they do!!!!! Butt holes. Now if I used their form, with a $300. purchase price on it, with both the form and the title notarized, I would pay a $18. tax!!!!!! |
