Side Mouldings_NOS vs Repo

I have about 1/2 of the mouldings replaced on my truck. They are the top and bottom with NO wood grain. Are the reproductions exact to the originals or is there a difference. I have brand new in the box top long box fleet side and a few other ones i have installed. They have long been discontinued from GM and you do find NOS stuff on Ebay, but the repos are always available. If I mix and match could you see a difference ?? Should I stick to one or another??

They are visually the same.No problem there.I didn`t find any of my n.o.s. on Ebay. There are other places to find it.Ebay is just the most known, being on the net and all.

Re: Side Mouldings_NOS vs Repo

If you want to be sure, order a small piece. I ordered a couple of pieces from LMC for my 77 Cheyenne. I compared them to a few NOS pieces I had, and they weren't even close.

I have been told that their are two levels of quality available for 67-72. One is collision replacement quality, and the other is restoration quality. You might check with some of the forums vendors and get their input before you buy.

Oh, and just so you know, I have bought quit a bit of NOS trim and some of it doesn't quit match other NOS trim...

Re: Side Mouldings_NOS vs Repo

The worst thing I found with repo trim is that the cab corners (upper and lower) don't fit very well. I had to do a fair bit of bending to get a good looking fit. The rest of the trim fit pretty well. DON'T throw away your old clips!! The ones they send with the new trim are absolute GARBAGE!!
