Re: Need some wheel cylinder help..
You need to find a real good guy at a place liek NAPA, but be forwarned... it'll cost a LOT.
I replaced 3 brake cylinders, one set of shoes, all hdwr and adjusters, and front bearings and all seals.... and that cost me just shy of 500 bucks...with a discount. My drum brakes on this truck will NEVER get new parts on them again... I have a little more time left, but the rear end will be replaced, and the front end will get a complete disc swap too. |

Re: Need some wheel cylinder help..
I shoulda finished my thoughts before hitting enter.
You need to find a guy who knows how to use the paper books, and knows his stuff. My guy at NAPA knows his stuff... but it still took quite a bit of trial and error to get the right stuff. When you get an item in hand, inspect it very carefully and compair it to your parts. Meausements and stuff will be needed. Real PITA. |

Re: Need some wheel cylinder help..
I used to have the numbers I'll look and see if I can find them. do a search at coloradok5.com i think i remember seeing them listed there. my eaton came out of a 72 K20 LWB. you will need to know if you have the big or little brakes. i mean 11 or 13 inch pads. it makes a difference. it cost to much on mine and I went to disc it was cheaper.

If possible, take an old wheel cylinder in with you. The leaf and coil sprung Eatons used different wheel cylinders and do not interchange. Both are available because I've purchase both within the last few months. If the parts guy asks "leaf springs or coil springs," you know he's on track. Why not use a 71/72 K20 or C20?
Longhorn Man has a point. Compare all the prices involved with Blackbird's disc brake conversion kit cost. Or with just the caliper brackets plus locally sourced parts. Before sinking some dough into the drum brakes, caliper those drums to see if you'll be spending ~$130 for new drums to replace ones beyond max diameter. If the drums can be turned within max dia, then maybe the shoes, spring kits, adjuster kits, and wheel cylinders won't come close to a disc conversion– this time.
