74 Cheyenne Dash/Gauge Interchangeablity?

Working on my '74 Cheyenne over the weekend and one thing I'd like to replace is my beat up Insturment Panel.

I notice you can get replacements for the later years (75+) but not for 74.

Is it easy/straightforward to put one of those panels from the later years in my 74?

Thanks!

No, it is not easy and straightforward to do this. You are limited to 73-75 for a plug-in app. Otherwise you need to completely rewire the dash..

Sorry I'm actually talking about the Instrument Bezel - the plastic part on the outside. Sorry I got my terminology mixed up.

Re: 74 Cheyenne Dash/Gauge Interchangeablity?

if you want the right look you need a instrument bezel from either a 73/74.. 75 and up have a larger wiper opening... you can do it but you need the winshield wiper and headlight switches from the 75 up donor vehicle.. i personally like the 73/74 bezels myself, but i am biased ...

Re: 74 Cheyenne Dash/Gauge Interchangeablity?

Thanks! Problem is mine is pretty beat up (and I'm not a huge fan of the woodgrain). So getting a nice new one has a big draw.

Since both my 74 and the 75 have those horizontal switches, what's really the difference?

Are the WW and Headlight switches a direct swap? (in terms of mounting and wiring)?

Thanks!
