Two tone paint sheme

Hi,
Does anyone know or better yet, have pictures of the correct paint scheme for a two tone 71-72?
I mean where the white paint should meet the other color in door frame, door opening, back and front of bed, cab and tailgate.
It appears to me that someone had repainted it to two tone from a single color truck, except for the front fenders which seems to be correct.
My plan is to repaint it in factory style two tone.
Here are some pics showing how my truck is painted.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Two tone paint sheme

My 71 GMC had the doors done that way. I don't know if it is correct or not but I thought the GMC had never been repainted. Both of my 72 Chevys have all of the top of the door done in white but they have both been repainted at least twice. I am sure someone will jump in here with the facts, (or at least their opinion of the facts ).

I agree w/ Asa , every vehicle I have owned has been painted several
times, so no telling what correct looks like, but we have a few members
here who have bone stock, plain jain, owned since new rigs, just give em
time to find this thread and I am sure they will be happy to post pic's

Re: Two tone paint sheme

I have seen the tops of the doors painted like that in brochures, And I have owned trucks with the white all over the door frames and to the weatherstrip on the cab. So, my guess is that they painted them both ways at the factory.

Re: Two tone paint sheme

My longhorn has original paint... it is a chevy, not a GMC... and it is a 70. It was all gold with a white roof. The white covered the whole window frome on mine, not just the outer sides.
I would venture to say that one plant did things one way, and another plant did it another. Not to mention just one shift doing it one way....and another dsoing it another way.
Where was your truck built?

Re: Two tone paint sheme

It's a Fremont built Chevy VIN, but it's been Frankensteined over the years.
71 Chevy VIN but it has a 72 Cab, and the tailgate is from a GMC for example.
Thanks a lot for replies, all info on this is highly appreciated.

Re: Two tone paint sheme

My 72 Chevy Custom Deluxe has original paint with the 2 tone, and it has that sloppy masked look at the back of the cab and the tops of the door frames are only painted at the front.

Re: Two tone paint sheme

What about the tailgate, shouldn't it be white at the bottom section, below the tailgate band, I have a CHEVROLET tailgate band for it to go over the stamped GMC letters. Note that the tailgate has grey primer on the top section.
Also, could anyone tell from the pictures if my truck has the 522 Copper or 526 Medium Gold paint? Glove box sticker is gone.
Thanks

Re: Two tone paint sheme

My GMC was assembled in Baltimore and the original paint was two tone white / dk. green and the white wrapped all the way around the door window frames. The top was white from the two-tone chrome trim over the top to base of the windshield pillars. No doubt there were variations in paint and other aspects of the assembly process.

Thanks a lot for the pics.
I think your truck looks great, I have seen pics of it after it’s been repainted.
That is how I want my truck to look when I'm finished with it.
Thanks to everyone else too that has replied to this thread.
