Well, its been a while since ive been on, but im moving to phoenix, and get this, the hospital that hired my wife is paying for us to move, so my nasty rusted GMC is going to get towed on a flat bed 2400 miles, to the land of rust free trucks!! whoo hooo. as soon as i get there i will be looking for a cab and a short wide side. bed. i dont know why i am taking my truck with me when i think about the logistics of it, except for the fact that it is a 4x4 that i have recently put an engine and a lift kit in, and its got all my sweat and blood. any way, yall have a good one

we are moving on the 4th of august, possibly earlier , and we are looking to move to somewhere around tempe or glendale, shes gonna be working at phoenix childrens hospital, im not very sure of the lay of the land down there, ive never been to phoenix, but right now we are looking for a place to live, any one know of a house for rent around tempe or chandler? thanks

welcome to phx when you get here. Actually, the pick of your truck looks exactly like mine did a couple of weeks ago.

Ok, places to live.... if you find a place in Tempe I will have to be far from Arizona State University because if it is close, they will charge you an arm and a leg for a slum.

Chandler is pretty nice and there are some nice houses cheap. You might want to consider MESA. If you look around, you can find some nice houses at reasonable prices and you are close to the freeway no matter where you are in Mesa, so you can get to PHX childrens hospital easily.

I'm moving to Phoenix in January to go to the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. I'll be driving my C10 out there, though. I'm glad to know there will be some fellow 67-72 truck lovers out there when I arrive.

Dont bring rusty parts!!!! AC cab you will want August to me is the worst in the mid 100's and humid.otherwise hot as FK and dry.but youll love Nov,Dec,Jan,Feb,March,April part of May June,July sucks.My wife works in mesa we live in Casa Grande its a hour commute but the cost of buying or renting here is about half of Phoenix,Chandler a bit spendy,stay out of the hoods.but welcome to hell!!!!

Gilbert is good. I lived in Gilbert, worked in downtown PHX (central and washington), and commuted the whole way. My advice, DON'T GO NEAR THE FREEWAY!!! Unless maybe you like driving really slow and stopping and waiting often. There is always a better route on the "surface streets".

I lived all over the valley. I lived in west Phx (79th and Thomas), sorta north Phx (near metro center), Mesa (8th street and Dobson), and Gilbert (Gilbert and Elliot). I liked Gilbert the best.

There is no where that the commute won't be bad - unless she goes to work in the evening and comes home in the morning. I learned real fast that the freeways are complete crap from 6:30am -10:00am, and from 3pm-7pm - at least in the direction most commuters are heading.

There's only two areas of freeway I have yet to see at a crawl in Phoenix:

*Loop 101 south of US60. It's just plain fast most of the time.
*US60 from I10 to Loop 101 since they finished construction. Before they did, it was hell. Now, it's wiiiiiiide, smooth, and fast until you hit the 101. Quiet, too, since they used ashphalt instead of concrete.

Ideally, you'll get a place close enough to avoid the freeways altogether. Where I live (Kyrene & Ray), I hardly need to use the freeways during rush hour(s). The only time I really use US60 past the 101 anymore is to go to Rick's Pickup Parts.
