72 burb 1/2 to 3/4
Just brought back a 3/4 LWB truck frame from Bills Bowtie. Took the senic route what a ride! 9% grade, 11% grade..........LOL
The questions, I am tired of doing frame swaps. I want to convert/pervert one of my 1/2 72 burbs into a 3/4 2 wheel drive. Are the frames the same, as far as strength? Are the engine crossmembers the same? So I can swap just the suspension not the crossmember The 3/4 truck frame is leaf , the burb coil. I am going to swap spring perches on to the coil frame. I measured and it will work. Are the 1/2 burb rear crossmembers strong enough? or do I need to find burb 3/4 rear crossmembers for leaves( so they will work with the frame mounted tank). Are 1/2 and 3/4 steering boxes the same? I am building this to replace my 99 BB 3/4 burb as a tow vehicle so I want to make sure it is strong enough ( for the rear spring perches) Any pix of a leaf spring 3/4 burb would be great. SCJKOVACH@AOL.COM Thanks, Steve |

Re: 72 burb 1/2 to 3/4
I'm pretty sure that the 3/4 ton trucks had some reenforcement... but only on the coil spring frames.
So if you were to do leafs, the frames would be the same. |

Re: 72 burb 1/2 to 3/4
I towed with a 1/2 burb with bags on the back for almost 2 years. Probably towed at least 40 vehicles. I will have a 354 dana coil spring rear from a 3/4 ton in a week or so.
