Hydraulic Clutch?

Ok since I went ahead and installed my small block in the inline 6 spot I cant get the Z bar for the clutch linkage to work and line up now. So I was wondering has anyone installed a hydraulic clutch on a 67-72. If so what parts do you need and where do you get them. If not has anyone else out there running an 8 in the 6 location figured out a fix for the clutch linkage.

Actually, the L6 and SBC/BBC use a different Z-bar setup, I believe.

I wish I could find that post where someone put up pictures of the diff't setups about 4-5 months ago

PS - I am install hydraulic clutch in my setup, but I still haven't figure out the logistics yet and have no idea how to set the bastard up. It's going to be the one thing standing between me and getting up to the MV show in May

I think it was 85 or so that the General started using them, again (they were used briefly in the early 60's). I was just at the JY a couple days ago and found an '87 C20 that had everything to swap over.

I used one on my 72 2wd. You need to mount the clutch MC so that the pedal linkage will engage it. the rest is simple. Biggest problem was the trans did not easily convert for a mechanical speedo. My install was a 5 speed out of a 96 1/2 ton truck.

Yeah my trans is the gm 3 speed so Im sure Ill have to come up with a way to mount the slave cylinder.

I found this place through a google search. I called them and they say their universal kit should work for what I want to do. Not sure yet but looks like I may go this route. Cost is goina be $188.00 for the kit.

Google for Keisler Automotive. I think that's spelled right. They specialize in transmission building and probably have a kit. I'm going to have them move my T56 shifter to the forward position for $500.

Unless you're convinced you want a hydraulic clutch. the easiest/least expensive solution is to use factory clutch linkage.. Move the pivot ball 2.5 inches forward on the bracket that bolts to the block. It'll line right up. If you don't have the small block linkage. You shouldn't have much trouble finding the parts you need.

Mechdawg sorry for changing the subject here but have you found any good junk yards around Dover? i am just starting on my 72 swb and I am still collecting parts. I was out at the one on White Oak Road but I was wondering if there were anymore that had any of our trucks.

Not a problem. Your welcome to stop by here some time if you like Ive gota bunch of stuff I need to get rid of still. But as for junk yards Im gettin ready to head down to Cairo's theve got some good stuff. Also ther is one in between milford and harrington called Lindales. They both have a few or our trucks layin around. I wouldnt count on finding any good body parts though the east coast is a brutal place for sheetmetal.... I live in royal grant off of rt 10 still in dover but close to camden. Just got my 67 to start a few minutes ago IM so motivated now.

Thats great! It will be a long time before I get to that point. My better half got a list of work for me tonight I will try to give you call some time this week to see what you got and maybe get some motivation for my project.
