1967K30 or anyone else with a 5.9 Cummins

I was wondering how you were making out on your Cummins conversion? Did you work out the fit problems? Reason I ask is I tore the 454 out of my K-20 intending to put the hot 250 Inliner out of our Farm truck in it, anyhow, my dad found a old 12v 5.9 at a junk yard we haul alot of scrap too and if I can get it bought right, I think I might put it in this one instead of the Detroit like I planned. Other than the overall length, I don't think it will fit all that bad, I don't have to worry about the 4x2 crossmember like I did on my C-20 with the 6AT.

GO FOR IT!!!! I's love to see a 6bt in a K20 using farmers engineering. That would whoop the 250 2 or 3 times over, at least! And later on, you can fuel it up so it will really go.

Yeah it would out work the little 250.............But I know one thing, we could have never farmed without the little 250 Straight 6...........Would start when nothing else would, ran like mad, took abuse like nothing I've ever seen, and we never had to put a wrench to it other than a pan gasket.........That is alot better than any other GM, Ford, or IH engine we've had.

I did find out the Cummins is for sale, looked like a 6bt to me(Its buried in a route truck and it was getting dark when I was their), but my dad said it looked like a 4BT to him from what he could see of it................It is for sale I found out today, they just don't know what they want for it yet. Either way, its better than the pig I tore out of the truck.

We're still trying to find a Dodge NV4500 but I did get another crossmember built that lowered the motor about 3".I think It's going to fit good now. As soon as we find a tranny it's going to get put together. I have someone that's going to wire it for us.We did get a D60 last week and installed it in the front of the truck. Hopefully I'll have more info soon. If you want to buy some motor mounts,Autoworld in Missula MT makes them for everything. They even put a Cat in a 79' Ford.
