Bench bleeding master cylinder

What would be the difference in bleeding the master cylinder before you install it as opposed to after? This would be before you hooked up any brake lines to it. After you bleed it you would hook up the brake lines and bleed it again normaly.

Re: Bench bleeding master cylinder

the whole world....
if you bench bleed the master and reinstall the lines and pump up and bleed each fitting at the master you can get away from having to bleed the complete truck and save tons of brake fluid..and about 1 1/2 hours. and possiable broken bleeders on the wheel cyl's

I'm swapping front brakes to disc so that would only save me from doing the rear.

o man that sounds like a great upgrade...bet your jumping at the chance to drive it, i know i would be. some times it's good to bleed the complete system just to clean the old brake fluid out. clean the lines out..
let us know what kind of a difference it makes..your pal mark

Re: Bench bleeding master cylinder

I let them gravity bleed, an easy way to flush the system. then slowly pump them up and bleed at the caliper or wheel cylinder.
I have had proportioning valves stick on me when I haven't bench or gravity bled the mastercylinder
