I just replaced ball joints on my Dana 44 and found out that the axles will not go in with the grease fitting installed on the upper ball joint. The ball joint came with a plug which I will use. My question is, should I grease the ball joint before plugging it or just leave the factory grease alone? Or is there another way to get grease into it without removing the axle?

I would grease it just to be on the safe side. Mooge makes upper ball joints with a grease fitting that stick out from the side so it can be greased any time. ( Just for future info )

definitly grease them then re-install the plug.
