Big Red

A visitor on 73-87.com sent me this link...I think it is absolutely awesome! (the year must be a typo, or they put a 73 body on a 72 chassis)

http://www.thompson-motorsports.com/bigred.html

I am trying to cantact them and see if I can get some updated photos and/or more information to add to the site.

Re: Big Red

huh, i have a 1971 Chev C/20, body is shot and so are the body mounts, but the frame, frame pieces, a-frame.. are like brand new.. I have a 1984 Gmc long bed.. which the body is actually repairable compared to the 71 body.. Is it possible to swap the cab and fenders? i am not putting the rear bed on, getting a rear dump.. so what do you think?

PM Mudder67 (I think that is his SN), he put a 67-72 body on a 73-87 chassis...looks great IMO.

Re: Big Red

Hey gang, got this E-mail reply from Pat at Thompson Motorsports

Hi Jeff, Yes I can give you more information on "Big Red" the name Mickey Thompson called it. There is no current photos of it and no way to get any it is stored on a double deck car trailer and no way to get to it. Maybe this summer we will be taking it out of the trailer and if so I could get some pictures then. What kind of information do you want? I will tell you it His sister said it was his favoret race truck. He drove it for three seasons alll his other off road race cars were only driven one season. I will read what I have on the site it has been a while since I wrote it and see if I can add something else. If there are any question about it please ask and I will try and asnwer them.

Pat

I am going to write back and ask a few more questions. Hopefully they can drag it out and get some photos of it in its current condition. Once I get that info, I will add it to 73-87.com for everyone to see.

Re: Big Red

Wonder if they'll ever sell it since it's trailered and not shown anywhere? No way could I buy it but would be cool.
