69 loss of lights, Q's and help...
Last night on my way to work I lost my brake lights, park lights, instrument lights, dome light . Still have turn signals and flashers and headlights only. I checked all the fuses and they are fine . I have a feeling that the culprit is the light switch. Checking the online wiring diagrams the brake light switch runs through the dome light circuit which then runs through the light switch? Has this happened to anyone before?

Re: 69 loss of lights, Q's and help...
Most likely is the headlight switch. It is fairly simple to swap and should be available at your local autoparts store.
On Blazers, the dome light does not run through the brake switch. I had a problem with a trailer brake set up on my '72. It was a very clean instal (I suspect it might have been dealer installation because it was so clean) but the brake lights ran through the trailer brake set up. The switch in the set up went out and killed my brake lights. Luckly, Mr. Police officer was very nice and just told me about the problem and said I should use hand signals to get home. I routed the brake lights the original way and all worked fine again. On my '69, I had the brown wire from the headlight switch burn. There was a small knick in the wire and it shorted out when the lights were on. It filled the cab with smoke and melted the plastic coating off the wire. It was a pain, but an easy fix. Check your wires to see if they are in good shape.
