Not sure whether this belongs here or not, but wanted to let everyone know and maybe it may help someone out. I stayed out late last night leaving my truck away from home (nissan daily driver). I awoke early to come home got to my truck to find my key wouldn't work in the lock, someone had re-keyed it with a flat head screwdriver, and the interior looked like the truck was upside down. Little buggars went thru everything, good thing there wasn't too much to take, but. They got a pair of nice sunglasses is about all for material stuff. I had a spare key for the truck, gone, which also mesmerizes me as to why the truck was not gone? But more importantly they took my garage door opener and a copy of my pink card(I think that translates to title to you guys down south) Luckily when I built the garage a friend who has an old bel air convinced me to put the opener on a switch, looks like a standard wall plug but it has a light switch on one side that turns power off. I think that may have saved my bacon. The old truck is apart in there and since I don't park in there I just turn the door off when I don't use it. Came home all is good and i am somewhat relieved I remembered to turn the switch off last night otherwise, goodbye quad, bike, tools and who knows what else. Like I say I hope this helps someone like it helped me. Dave

That sh!t just burns me up and it wasn't even my stuff. Glad to here all they got was a couple little things and maybe they will be even dumber and try something with the title to where they get busted. That idea for the switch should be a standard when building a garage.

it might be a hassle but rekey everything. it will save your butt i swear. with the garage door opener just change the frequency and buy another opener. as far as the truck goes, rekey the ignition as it doesn't matter how long it is before you get to driving your truck again. the dumb a$$ who stole your key will likely have an eye out for it for awhile.

I had some crackheads break into a truck too. Took some candy bar wrappers, garage door openner, coat, and a cell phone charger. Left full cans of beer sitting on the back seat

They take your pink slip for identity theft. If you haven't already, contact the RCMP so at least you have proof if something does happen
