Brake Question

The front drums/shoes on my 67 are I think in need of replacement as the drivers side seems to be at the limit of the adjuster. Can anyone give me an idea of how much "meat" there should be on the shoe when new as opposed to replacement time. Also how do I check that the drum is still in tolerance? The passenger side does have a slight lip on the outer edge but the drivers side seems fine. I guess what I am concerned with is if the previous owners have had them skimmed at some point. Thye do pull to the right slightly and I think thats because of the driver side being past adjusting.

Thanks Guys

Re: Brake Question

On the outside of most drums cast into it will be the max diameter size.

Re: Brake Question

Just got a set of new front shoes, they are "quality brand" relined shoes, we don't have the same control over brands here in the Uk and have to take what the specialist have in stock unless we want a long wait to have something specific imported.

My question is are all 67 front brakes the same? Was there a heavy duty option as the guy had this listed and a standard option but with nothing to explain the difference. He had the HD ones in stock so we plumped for them. One concern I have is the leading and trailing shoes seem to have a different compound used on them as one is bluey green in colour and one a kind of buff. Is this normal? I've checked with them and all the sets he has in stock are the same. Can't get out and have a look at the ones on there as it's making like Noah will be appearing soon!
