chassis & drivetrain colors

How do you know what color a part on the engine, frame, etc, is supposed to be from the factory? I want to put everything back original on a 70 GMC. Surely everything isn't black. Thanks, Greg

I don't know if this is helpful but I was told by a couple Board members way back when I first Joined it is Chevy Orange For the Motor in 1970. I bet Longhorn man would know. My Dad agreed, so I did mine in Chevy Orange. ORIGINAL is good! Good luck on your search!
Respectfully

Re: chassis & drivetrain colors

You have to look at original ads and brochures,if you can`t find an original truck.I`d have to type a list a mile long. There are paints for all of it.A good handful of blacks and many greys.

Re: chassis & drivetrain colors

I know about the red for the engine....special-K is hitting on what I need. Maybe someone could post what color goes on what and put it in the FAQ.
