What do you guys think?
A friend of mine has a 72 swb for sale. It has been disassembled and is in pieces. It has no motor or trans. It has an air cab,and a tilt column. The bed floor is in great shape just some surface rust. The cab floor has rust in the usual places. He is asking $1000.00 it has most everything to put it back together. I have a 71swb that Iam almost done with.. at least for a while.
I would post some pic but cannot get that to work let me know what you think. |

Re: What do you guys think?
If you don't have to do any body work, for a driver at least, and everything is truly there (dash, ashtray, all the little items that would eat up some money to find and replace) then it may be a close call. IMO

Re: What do you guys think?
I don't know, I paid $2200 for mine and not only drove it home, but drive it everyday... kind of high for something you have to not only put together, but also provide the engine/trans

Re: What do you guys think?
On the flipside, the guy could probably part it out for that or more...

Re: What do you guys think?
I would make an inventory list of every thing that hes got.Like frizzle said. Parts can add up. So if he has bought alot of new parts and odds and ends like rubber and panels and the doors are in good shape bumpers wind wings and no bondo then it all adds up. Some guys buy every single item from top to bottom but never put anything together they sit on the couche and order parts then one day decide. Its got to go. Ask him to break out the receipts..lol.....And offer him 600$......

Re: What do you guys think?
I think it`s worth it,but you can do better.Back east, definately worth it if it`s all there.I bought my`72 short fleet for $1,000 running,primered,6cyl/3spd,totally basic truck, and not so great body.Look what guy`s go through to shorten a longbed.A good 6' Fleetside bed brings $1,200 at swap meets around here.In Texas,I guess it`s a marginally high price.

Re: What do you guys think?
Buy it. Short beds are getting harder and harder to find.

Re: What do you guys think?
Welcome to the forums.. If the bed/tailgate are in good shape it's well worth $1K. A '72 with AC, and a tilt column probably had quite a few other desirable factory options as well. You've already built a truck so you're no newbie to this. It sounds like a hard deal to pass on.
In the FAQ there are tutorials to guide you through re-sizing images, and links to free picture editing software. G/L

Re: What do you guys think?
It's barely worth it for being a SWB with A/C cab. No engine and assembly required drives the price way down, IMO. Your time is worth money. Make a lower offer accordingly.
He could part out the parts for more or less the thou, but his time is also worth money.
