goodmark replacement door handles...

Just got a set of goodmark outer door handles, and they do not work.....

The holes on the handles are 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch off.

Anyone else try these and had success? Granted I only paid $40 for the pair.

Makes me more willing to pay $125 each for the NOS ones.......

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

Yeah the door handles are not for 67'or 68. They are 69-72. Also the right side seems to be better made than the left if you look inside at the casting.the right seems thicker.

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

Hey John, mbgmike is correct. I had the same problem with my 67 So I tried the GM NOS ones they were worst than the aftermarket ones So I keep going through diffrent ones untill I found two that I liked. The only bad thing is everybody don't have a shelf full of them.

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

John - What do you mean they don't work? Are the pins too short? I have heard this before.

Thanks for the info - Bob

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

Hi Bob,

The two holes for the bolts (that hold it onto the door) are drilled such that when you line up one hole, the other hole is 1/2 to 1/3 covered up, so you are unable to get the bolt to thread into the handle. I may play around with opening up the holes on the door just a little bit.

Go to Brother's - they are having a sale on all of theirs (this is what the brochure said the other day).

I think the 67 handles were a little different even from the factory. I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable guys will kick in shortly.

I have heard that many of the repro handles break within a year or two also.

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

We have had more troubles with the "original" GM handles then we have had with the repros. Plus the chrome is much nicer on our repos then any of the GM. The problems we have had with GM is the guide plate on the back. The tabs that hold it in break off. The other thing is price. GM's cost is way up there. You can get a set of the repro for the price of 1 GM handle. Just my 2 cents with what I've seen over that few years.

Yes we have heard that from some customers also. Then some have lasted to. If its less than a year we generally give them there money back.(just don't spread it around)

I agree and they get worse in the 80's Look the 90's they fixed the outside the the inside kept breaking off I replaced 5 of them 245.000 miles.

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

I got my set from GMC Paul's and haven't had a problem in 2 years. Chrome is still great and they work super smooth. Everything matched up fine also. Not sur who they were made by, but they were not that expensive.

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

my bro had the Goodmark handles corrode in about 18 months. They still work fine, but look worse than the 37 y/o ones he had originally. brian

Re: goodmark replacement door handles...

How many companies actually make the repro door handles? One or two?
