My new toy... 73 Blazer
I been over on the 73-87 Pickup side for a couple years with my 80 K10. But, looks like I'll be frequenting this side, too!! Just picked up a 1973 K5 Cheyenne Blazer.
I've wanted one of these since - well - 1973. $500 in a divorce "JUST GET THE DAMNED THIS OUTA HERE" deal. Had to throw 2 spares and a battery in it 'cause it's been sitting for over a year. But, it's gonna be a blast! So, opinion time. Convert to 2WD and lower it or leave it on the lifts and leave it 4wd??? To top all this off, I've been offered a 72 K10 Scottsdale - free. Can you say Sanford & Son..... - Dave

Sweet. You'll like the full convertible. I've still got to take the lid off of mine but plan on it sometime this summer.
Have fun with it!

Looks like my 79 I got recently. About the same condition as well. I say go topless and keep it 4x4.

Re: My new toy... 73 Blazer
Myself...i'd keep her a 4wd if she is really clean with no rot in the tub.
Then i'd do 4.10's with auburns in the front and rear with a set of 33" MTR's on a set of paint to match the body rally wheels....i'd grab the running gear and complete harness from a 87-91 K5...and i'd say your about set. The 73 i just home as frame and tub is going to be a HE special i think....i was also born and raised in SOCAL so i think the HE theme will be fun to do. Just scrounging all the period HE parts will be fun...plus mine didn't have the factory rollbar so i need to find one of those also along with a rear bar first offered in 80 (?) as it was the first year a silverado package became ava in a K5.... My 79 2wd will be a challenge though as somehow i want it to reflect my socal childhood with some sort of theme. I need to do some sniffing around and see who besides FOOSE can doing some rendering so i have a battle plan. DW

1976K5CHALET
Your plans sound good. I'm slowly gelling a plan. Likely I'll go back to stock ride height or 21/2 inch lift. With 31 or 33's on My '89 Rallys. And, I'm gonna build a 383 from a donor, and clean up the whole rig. My kid has career goals to be the next Foose, so he's looking to learn on this and I'm encouraging this! Gonna register and drive it - roof off - for the summer and then tear it down to the frame. Clan up the tub and chassis, have some upholstery don and paint her by February. Should be back on the road next spring. I thought about doing a replica of the JAWs (first movie) Blazer. Hmmm. Quote:
