I got a small block 350 and im trying to take the cylinder heads off because the bolts are really on there. Any good ways to take off the bolts?

Re: How to remove heads from a 350

Hi and welcome from South TX.

I used a 1/2" drive 5/8 impact socket, it's stronger than a normal socket, a short extension and a looong pull handle. I think I even had to use a cheater pipe to break 'em loose. Lube all that up with a big can of elbow grease and your in business!

Well, a 1/2 or 3/4 breaker bar with a long piece of pipe will most likely do it. Might try an impact wrench too.....

1/2" imact gun with the 5/8" impact socket, if that doesn't break em loose, use a long handle 1/2" ratchet with a pipe extension. worst thing that'll happen is a broken bolt, or the socket will slip off the head and your knuckles will hit the rockers or something.

Just a little blood and a few stitches no big deal If an Impact wrench wont do it I would suggest* a breaker bar and a section of tubing to use as a cheater bar.

Wow... I've never needed tools that HD for a simple head job. I normally use a 3/8 breaker bar, and if need be, I'll grab the 1/2 inch. If I'm actually with my tools at work, I use my 3/8 impact.
