truckdude,
I just want my speedo to be correct. Whats the best tire for that?

We have 33 inch on the back right now, and they are making the speedo wrong big time.. when the speedo says 20 i'm going 25 when it says 28 i am going 35 and it goes crazy from there.

Re: Stock tire size Q

Depends on what stock wheels came with your truck. Sounds like your C10 may have had 15" wheels, originally. My GMC came with 16" wheels and 7.5 X 16 LT bias ply tires. What trans do you have? You can get speedometer gears to correct for larger or smaller tires.

lt235/75r15 or p235/75R15 XL (EXTRAL LOAD) should put you back on track if you got 15 inch rims its going to be the closest to the oringal tire size i got 255/70r15 on mine and its only off by 3 or 4 miles an hour

Re: Stock tire size Q

I've got the towing package i think, so it has really low gears in the back (witht he big tires it hits about 70.) So maybe i have the lowest gears?

Think it was a 7.00 X 15. Not sure but Think it is about a 29 inch tire. Had it on 77.

Re: Stock tire size Q

I got my wheels, and they are 16 by 8 so i guess i'll get a tire to match it. Mostlikely just black lettering.

Re: Stock tire size Q

My 70 c10 2wd 6cyl 3spd came with G-78-15 Uniroyal from the factory. The closest size today is 235 75 15. I am sure Coker Tire probably has a replica original type tire if anyone is interested. www.cokertire.com

Re: Stock tire size Q

33's fit a 2wd without scrubbing? would they fit on the front? i have a set sitting around so if they would fit that would be nice at least for a while until i get it fully redone.

Re: Stock tire size Q

You can still get the G78-15, but it's been changed to 7.8-15 and is a bias ply trailer tire. Some of our small trailers have those and 7.00-15's on 'em. Any bias ply tire will ride really bad in the front though. I had two old 7.5-16 tube type Goodyears on split rims on the front of my truck and they rode really bad, had a lot of vibrations after 40MPH.
