Air Filter Help

I went to the parts store today to get a air filter for my truck. I didn't have much luck. The one they fun was a wix racing filter and they wanted $60 . The filter is a 14 inch outer diameter and 3 inches tall any is just is a chrome edelbrock housing. What I'd like is some parts numbers if any one has them for some of the major suppliers. I see summit has them but i don't really want to order them. Please Help

Re: Air Filter Help

TTT.
I have wondered the same.
A guy I work with has a 14"x3" air filter that he said he bought at Advance Auto (CSK some places I think), for like $10. It was their normal brand. He just took a mesauring tape and started hunting.
If anyone has any PN's though, let us know.

Re: Air Filter Help

On a shelf in my garage I found a 14" open air cleaner with a WIX 42116 paper filter. Filter dimensions are:

OD: 13.0
ID: 11.25
height: 2.75

Ideally, it would have a 1/2" larger ID, because it's a snug fit in my "dropped" air cleaner base.

Summit Racing has an inexpensive 14" paper filter here:

Re: Air Filter Help

I'm using the same air filter on my 72. I use a Purolator A60074 element in it and it fits great and costs less than $10. I change it after each hunting season. I get mine at Advance Auto Parts. I found mine by measuring filters at the parts houses until I found the best fit.
