What did you get done? Father's day edition

Happy Fathers day to all you Dad's. Did you score any cool stuff for Dad's day?

I didn't do much truck related this week. Since I snapped the alt belt on my 77 trying to re-tighten it last week I have been trying to get a minute to replace it. I finally got near an auto parts store to buy the belt, but haven't put it on yet. Hopefully when I get home this evening I'll have time to put it on.

Yesterday I watched my daughter play volleyball. They went to a Junior Olympic "Warm Up" tournament and won. Not only did they win, but they beat a team TWICE that had beat them early in the season. It was nice to beat them once in the pools, but to beat them again in the finals was proof that our girls had become the better team.

What did y'all get done?

Re: What did you get done? Father's day edition

Got my 350 for the 86 C20 tore down for all new gaskets. I was disappointed to find the 3973487X heads are long gone and a heavy cast 882's in its place. Still have to pull the oil pan and see if its a 4 bolt main or not but I'm pretty sure it is. Its a 1972 block with 010 and 020 stamp in the timing cover area and the seventh bellhousing bolt drilled threaded. I should be able to get the casting number off the crank and see if its forged or not.

The grease was like trying to trying to chip off hydraulic cement. Got a few more spots in the head to clean out the carbon deposit buildup. I've come to find that on one gasket on the engine sealed that I took off. Doesn't look like the PO was that found of oil changes either. It was supposedly rebuilt and I think it was for the most part I don't want to pull the heads just to check. I never did find out when it was rebuilt.

Re: What did you get done? Father's day edition

Friday I got both my daily driver and my Suburbans windshield replaced.
Saturday I started cleaning up the garage since it is currently alot less cluttered with 2 trucks missing. (Jimmy is still in there...)

Thursday Jamie went to the doctor to confirm that she is expecting, so I am a father this fathers day.

Congrats Chris on the news

I replaced the brake booster on the truck (under warranty saved some $$) and bought the new flexplate for the blazer. Homefully getting that changed tomorrow if all goes well.

That is great news Chris!

Now you had better hurry up and get that truck done before the baby arrives, cause once you are officially a daddy, I am sure money will be scarce.

Re: What did you get done? Father's day edition

I visited my grandfather in the assisted living place he's in. It was a suprise, and he was really glad to see us(me and my brother)

Then I spent the rest of the day with my dad, grilling burgers and hanging out!

much better than busted knuckles!

Re: What did you get done? Father's day edition

well, after scratching my head, and a few other various body parts, I FINALLY got my wiring figured out so I can start AND kill the motor with the keys! I even backed it out of the garage under it's own power!

all I need now is some exhaust!

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

I think I will hold onto the trucks I have right now though... The current truck I am planning on completing by the end of summer now...(hopefully sooner)

Re: What did you get done? Father's day edition

Where do I start.....I'm still somewhat new here so I try and post as often as possible, if any of you know my post's from before I have a 74 that started life as a long bed, then we shortend it! Well of course before the project began we failed to check the frame with a tram gauge to check if it was square so after a lot of measuring we got it close, come to find out the truck was in a minor fender bender before I owned it, I learned that after the fact. Well I guess I'm a bit anal so the search began for a new stock SWB frame, so I found one for a great price....FREE. It's not the year I wanted but It will work, it's actually an 85.

So Friday I played hooky from work drove the hour and a half to pick up the frame, came home put it on the lawn till the old one was out. I live in a duplex with a 1 car garage and that was the best spot! So after the long weekend I got the old frame out, pressure washed all the front suspension, rear end, under the cab, everything~ as of tonight the new frame is underneath the cab waiting to figure out my next move. I want the truck to layout flat so I'm doing all the research to find the best way. I've got a ZZ3 crate motor just waiting to get installed, now I've gone to far so who knows....sorry for the novel just thought I'd mention what i'm up to.
