Wheels and tires, What to do...
When I get the '70 C10 home, one of the things that I want to change is wheels and tires. Please give me some ideas for front and back wheel sizes. I think that I am going to go with 16" wheels. I want the truck to have a nice stance. Nothing too narrow if you know what I mean. If you also have pics as examples that would be great.
Thanks, Tony

Re: Wheels and tires, What to do...
Check out this thread for some ideas -
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=143835 This is just a shot in the dark cause I don't know what look you are going for, lowered or what, but if stock height you can fill up the wheel wells nicely with a 245/75/16 on a 7 inch rim with about 3.5 to 4 inch backspacing, or a little wider but same height a 265/70/16 on a 8 inch rim with about 4 to 4.5 backspacing. Or run the 245/75 on front and the 265/70 on back. Those are common tire sizes that are cheaper too.

Re: Wheels and tires, What to do...
I am running Wheel Vintique wheels on mine...15x8 on front, with a 4-inch back space. Back has 15x10 with a 4.5-inch backspace. Front tires are 245-60's. Rears are 275-60's. Running hot rod trim rings and police car caps on the 'Vette-style rallye wheels. Summit Racing has 'em.....free shipping, too.
I found that running anything wider than a 7-inch wheel on my truck front end, was not good. I have ECE disc conversion and the 8's I had, with a 3.5 inch back space caused the wheels to move out too much. The backspace is the key, to good aesthetics.

Re: Wheels and tires, What to do...
Ok, depends what year you have, 5.5 is a lot of BS, but if you have front disks and the rear end is late 1970 thru 1972, they are about 3/4 inch wider front and back than the earlier all drum setup. If you have the wider axles you might be OK. There is a pic of a blue truck in the wheels/tiires thread above that has 17 inch Impala wheels 8.5 wide with 5.125 BS and I think it looks OK, but it might be stock height.

Re: Wheels and tires, What to do...
thanks green machine. i have stock 68 drum/drum set-up. sounds like it wont work out with-out some changes. the tire size can still be changed since i have not mounted them yet. i cant mount the wheels untill i find out how far to machine the center bore out, nobody seems to know and i dont have access to the truck right now. if i find out the correct bs i will have 6 to 6 adapters made not spacers. i am set on 3/5 drop and these 20 in. 07 tahoe wheels. trying to get things ready before truck arrives. so thanks for any help.
