ID this rear end - POSI??

I just bought a 70 K20 and it lists NoSpin rear axle and even has a owner's manual from Detroit automotive concerning the NoSpin in the glovebox. I pulled the inspection plate today and the carrier does not look like I expected it to. I tried turning the wheels with the rear end raised and got both wheels to turn the same direction momentarily, but mostly just one wheel would turn. Here are some pics - someone help me out!!

The detroit locker does not work like a clutch type positraction and will spin one wheel.

It does look like the detroit locker to me (looking through that little rectangle in the pic on the left). Looks like it has the gear type locking mechanisms. Judging from the tiny bit I can actually see, I think it's a locker.

Let me clarify that first sentence... It will spin one wheel off the ground, like you were doing. When power is provided through the driveshaft, both wheels turn.

Re: ID this rear end - POSI??

that is the no-spin, i have one also. they can "unlock" allowing only one wheel to turn. try turning the wheel as hard as you can which will cause it to lock.

Re: ID this rear end - POSI??

Thanks for the help, guys.
Keith, I bought the truck to resell. Now that I know the rear end is a NoSpin, I am going to swap it with the one wheeler in my 72 K-20. The "doner" truck is a 70 K-20, 350/350/205, ps, pb. Come on down and check it out!!

That is the first thing I checked - they are both 4.10's. I sent you pics of the truck.
