Best thing to use to polish old alum slots?

Not looking for a multi-stage process, just something that will bring a shine back to a set of aluminum slots I have. I tried Blue Magic (think that's what it's called) but didn't really do much.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

thanks

Re: Best thing to use to polish old alum slots?

Are the wheels pitted or oxidized? If not the best polish I've seen is called Happich simichrome polish. We get it at work to polish coin dies,I've used some on my wheels and other pieces works great. It's not cheap though, about $50.00 from what I'm told.If they are pitted and oxidized then emory cloth and steel wool buffing wheel and some polishing rouge might be your other option.Good luck, and if you want the info.on the polish I can find out who they order it from.Scott

Re: Best thing to use to polish old alum slots?

muratic acid (spelling?) sold in the masonary section of home depot will lighten them up if there real bad, but dont use it on any coated surfaces.
and it will kill every thing it touches ,
just spray it on and hose it off after letting it sit for a very short time
dont get it on any thing else like your hands eyes or cloths
ive used it on a set of tubines before

i've found brillo works quick fast and cheap to breath new life into old slots and doesn't damage them and if you wish to go further with a cream type polish in the future for a more brilliant shine you can
