6 banger gasket kits?
I finally got to working on my 70 GMC in an attempt to cure the exhaust leak at the header pipe. I snapped off one the studs when removing the collar.... oh well I was ready for that. I pulled the headers down from the rafters and off came the hood, the carb & intake. I did a test fit and it looks like I'm going to have to grind a little off the drivers motor mount. So I went shopping for a gasket set and found Hooker makes a true header gasket to fit the I-250CID but nobody has a real intake gasket to match. I was hoping to find a copper gasket to help with any leakage problems.
Any Vendors out there carry such a set of Intake & Exhaust or should I just use the single piece stock gasket and hope for the best? I might pull the motor and cure a few minor oil leaks while I'm at it. So if anyone knows of a parts source for the whole gasket kits for cheap post up a link. The going price around here is about 60-70 bucks for the whole felpro kit. |

Re: 6 banger gasket kits?
napa's intake/exahust gasket isnt copper but its a metal gasket, we also carry a full gasket set, or just a head set. If it can be put on a car, we can get it for you

Yea, I know I can get the single piece gasket, about 10 bucks from the local NAPA but will it seal up good?

I used the Napa kit on the wife 62 they make a good kit. Stove bolt engine company sells a cast header that is real high quality.

Re: 6 banger gasket kits?
That's what I'm using along with a stock gasket and the stock intake but going with a Clifford intake next week.

Re: 6 banger gasket kits?
I have checked the Clifford performance site, Inliners.org and Stovebolt, JC Whitney, Parts America and several others. Clifford's are the only ones who sell an exhaust gasket for the 250.... it doesn't say if it is the single combined intake/exhaust or just a exhaust set and no pic of it either!
I already have a set of headers. I guess I just used to installing V-8 headers that don't always seal up sometimes. |

The combined/stock Felpro is #9786. This is good for the factory manifolds.
I like the Felpro HP: intake #1257 (much better for aluminum). exhaust #1448 (better for tube headers). |

I use one. I recommend you coat both sides with Permatex copper-Spray-a Gasket and also bead the seals with hi-temp silicone. Let the wet gasket set up overnight before firing up the L6.
