q-jet help
please recommend right q-jet and best place to purchase. i will keep the old 307 going another year or two and work on the 400 slowly. alot of member talk highly about the q-jet and good places to buy. what model will be best suited out of box? stock engine with headers. i will pick-up a stock factory intake, anything to avoid or look for? its just not right having a v-8 with 2b!
thanks pkj |

Re: q-jet help
Buy a edelbrock 1406 and weiland or edelbrock intake.
The headers will run nice with that set up.

Re: q-jet help
I just switched to a Edelbrock 2101 and Holley 1850. Summit has good prices on them if you want new, otherwise Ebay it...

Re: q-jet help
thanks everyone. i will only be using the 307 for another year or two, so dont want to invest to much in it. but do the aftermarket intakes improve the power and torque enough to be worth it, or feel in seat of pants? what about a summit brand name intake? they are cheap. as to the Auto Zone 3-78a what size is that? being just a little 307 i dont want to over carb. i love the howl a quad makes.

Re: q-jet help
Order a or ask for a carb for a 305 motor and you'll be fine. I've had good luck with Oreily rebuilt Qjets.

Re: q-jet help
If you didn't know this, make sure you get one from the early-mid 70's, as in the early 80's, they started metering them electronicly.
