Swapping a 71 cab/front cap to a 68 frame, can it be done?

I would like to know if I'll run into any problems swapping a 71 front cap and cab onto a 68 frame? I've been looking through some parts books from a guy at work and say for instance, the core support mounting kit says it's different on a 67-68, then a 71-72, is this true? Also, read somewhere that the doors on a 67-70 were the same and the 71-72 were different? They look the same to me? Well, those are my main questions at the moment? I guess I'm going to have to become a supporter, because I need some parts for this truck in the near future.

If you're using the entire front clip it should bolt up with no problems. The doors are the same except 72's which have a screw near the vent window and used different panels, which needs longer window regulator and door handles.

Re: Swapping a 71 cab/front cap to a 68 frame, can it be done?

I just got done doing alot of swap work as I moved the whole front and rear end from 72 frame to 68 frame and now putting 71 cab and clip on that.the 68 frame will have a smaller holes for the radiator support bushings. I had 69 -72 bushings so I ground off the rivets on my 72 frame and remounted the core support brakets from that on my 68 frame. Also if you are going to be running power steering make sure the frame is dimpled for the steering box. My 68 wasn't so I had to heat it up and dimple it. Also keep in mind you will need different cables for parking brake as the 68 has hand pull and routes differently through cab. Doors should be fine as 72 was about the only diffence in doors as the inside door panels were thicker so window regulators and door latch regulators were longer stem.
