Pto Shaft On A 4spd Tranny?

hey guys I have a 67 chevy with a 4 spd tranny not for sure on the type (the reverse goes down and to the left) Anyways right by the where the driveshaft connects to the tranny. there is another little shaft, that is coming out of the tranny what could this be? I am assuming it is for a PTO shaft. was this an option of some sort. ANY info would be helpful. Could anyone show a photo if they have one.
thanks
John

Jjg,
Yep that sounds like it's for a PTO. Sounds like your truck was possibly a tow truck at one time in its career. Lumpy

some of these trucks had a PTO winch as a dealer add on, maybe that's why it's there
