Ash Tray
Am I correct in assuming that the ash tray was removable in all the years? I got a 72 cab and can't get it out, and there are not any screws holding it in. Also is it the same as a 68 ash tray? Thanks

Push down on the center tab in the ash tray and it will come out in less someone has done something to it before you. As far as them all being the same I don't know. Someone else will have to answer that one.

I am not talking about the ashtray itself, but the part that it slides in and out of. The part that screws to the dash and holds the ashtray in.

Open the ash tray, press down on the little lever and it comes right out. My 72 slides on plastic rails while my 70 has ball bearings, but they all slide out.

I've seen them both ways, some spot-welded, some screwed-in. Don't remember if it was a year thing or what...

My 2 '70's and 1 '69 were screwed in...no spot welds. I only know this becouse the first longhorn had a better assembly than either of the other 2 trucks, so it has gone from truck to truck.

Just had mine in and out to install a stereo, and it had two screws above the tray, and two more underneath, accessible AFTER you remove the heater controls.
