Grille guard/light bar
I am considering a grille guard, mainly to use as a light bar, and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on what fits with a minimum of fabrication. I've looked in JC Whitney & Jegs, but there's nothing that fits our years out of the box.
Thanks! |

Re: Grille guard/light bar
Here's the one that was on my truck. Dealer equipment. Mine was army surplus. I took it off to "pretty" up the front a little.

Re: Grille guard/light bar
no pics (could take if you want) but 68350 let me have a totally custom grille guard he took off a parts truck he had. Beefy, that's what I gotta say about it. It's fairly heavy, prolly 80lbs or heavier. looks like they took, I'm guessing here, but some 1-1.5" wide, 3/8" thick steel bars (total guess of the top of my head, it's probably bigger though) and made a guard that goes square around the grille, vertical bars on the other side of the headlights. In between those bars it looks like they took a three sided 2x4" steel block and welded it in there, with another piece of the same crap that goes about half the width, welded middle-to-middle. Beefy ass grille guard, I think the grille behind it was almost perfect. Perfect farm-truck material, thing's huge, looks like if you ever came across a cow, just slam it down a gear, and keep on the gas. I'm sure the cow would lose before the grille guard shifted back a millimeter. If you really want, I can get some pics for you tomorrow.
