New valve covers

I went ahead and got the aluminum covers for my leaky steel ones. one Question, it has a very thick flange and raised area around the bolt holes I am guessing I should not use or need the spreaders on them.

Also the gaskets are formed on one side, indented like a U. And flat on other I would assume the flat side on cover side and rounded side on head? looks like they are preformed.

Thanks

Re: New valve covers

yep, steel valve covers are thin and need the spreaders to spread the clamping force. Thick flanged aluminum ones don't
