Re: Where to find a chrome steering column?
IMO Flaming River is a much nicer column. It is stainless and notice how this model looks so much like our original columns. Notice the nice shift arm that is smaller & higher for smaller modern steering wheels.
I have these built specially for our trucks with splined shaft (not the DD that requires a special expensive intermediate shaft). PM me if you have further questions. |

you could allways sandblast, sand and clearcoat your original column.

Flaming Rivers are the hot ticket.

Re: Where to find a chrome steering column?
Yes, stainless is almost always better. It will look better over longer periods of timeand you'll have to polish it less. Regular chrome will have a tendency to develop surface rust over time if it is not well kept. Stainless has a higher nickel content which will help it resist rust.

Here's an Ididit in the same basic configuration, except it doesn't have the splined shaft and has to use an expensive intermediate shaft. My Flaming River, built for our trucks, is about $75 less---from me! These can be a shock if you don't have any idea what they cost. The built/rebuilt OEM stock tilts are now selling for about $500...in flat black paint and cheap chrome arms. There's an old saying, "If it's cheap, it aint good and if it's good, it aint cheap". |

Re: Where to find a chrome steering column?
The cost looks reasonable after you consider the price of a stock truck column after rebuilding. You can get these in steel/paint form much cheaper.
