'03 vs. '06 lowering kit?
Found a used lowering kit for an '99-'03 truck. Was wondering if this would fit on my '06? Sport Truck Direct lists '99-'06 so can I assume this to be true?
It looks like it is lowering springs for the front - is this an OK way to bring the front down or would it be better to do spindles or control arms?

Get a McGaughys Suspension drop. Get the spindles up front, they will retain stock ride quality. Shackled and Hangars out back. That will give you a nice 2/4 that will ride good as well.

Re: '03 vs. '06 lowering kit?
My 06 CrewCab has the front leaf spring hanger welded on. This makes it hard to use the shackles and hangers for the 4" rear drop...kinda sux. I wanted to drop it 2/4

I used McGaughys Suspension 2 inch dropped spindals & 1 inch coils on my 04. 99 to 06 should all work on your truck.

Re: '03 vs. '06 lowering kit?
Just picked up my "new" 99 gmc ext cab. I'm trying to figure out the best way to lower her.
Does anyone know how CAL58GMC lowered his rear suspension. He mentions the front but no rear components. I know this is an old posting, but just had to try. Thanks all. Last edited by raycer; 03-04-2010 at 02:39 PM. |

Skip DJM and go with McGaughy spindles. Alignment or tire wear will never be an issue. I have used both methods and way recommend spindles over a-arms any day.

Re: '03 vs. '06 lowering kit?
Perfect. I'm almost set on to a 4/6 with helper bags for towing. Will also have c notch. Need to get quotes from places on all this from McGaughy.
Any suggestions on where to ask? Thanks. |

Re: '03 vs. '06 lowering kit?
Stylin Concepts has good prices. I have bought the majority of my stuff from them. Another good supplier is latemodelrestoration.com . They don't carry McGaughy line, but anything else you would need they have, and shipping is chaep. I have a crew cab and used there flip kit which is the usual flip of the leaf spring, then since the front hanger is welded on they have a kit that flip the rear hanger and and installs an adjustable shackle. My truck sits 3/5 lower thanks to them. Install was easy. Good luck with your project !
