Help?????

I installed two doors different doors on my driverside today and from the lowest body line to the bottom of the door my door sticks out farther than the cab. It increase from matching up at the body line to sticking out about a 1/2" at the bottom of the door. Now if you can understand what I just described here what I am thinking aobut doing to fix this. Cut a line in the cab corner up to the body line and pull the cab corner out the match up with the door. What do you think about this and why would it be like this there is not sign on damage. Could this have happened from cutting out the floor pans and rocker panel.

Sounds to me there may be a hinge shimming issue. Better be sure its not before hacking anything. if the upper door hinge, or I guess even the lower one is out, then it will show like that. Perhaps. I door alignerer upperer would know for sure.

I should have mentioned that from the lower body line up the door lines up perfectly. Also all the way across the bottom of the door it is out about a 1/2". I don't want to cut up my cab but I can't see two door's being messed up the same way. The door that is on there now is not the factory door, that door is ruined because someone backed up with the door open and broke the door mount and bent the upper door post. The old door would close but the new door wouldn't and that is how I found the door pillar to be bent and I pulled that back so no the new door closes nice but the bottom is out too far. Like I said before there was no sign of damage when I started with the cab but went and replaced the the floor pans cab coners and rocker panels. I won't cut it up until I get some more idea's as what could be wrong so keep'm coming.

CAn you get some pics for us. I had to really shim one of my hinges on the passenger side to get everything to line up.

Here is a pic I have not the best but I have the door off right now to fix the rust on it, I can put it on sometime today and will take better pics.

Looks like you need to pull the top of the door out a little bit, and the bottom of the door in a little bit.

I had a hard time with the bottom of the door just like your photo, fixed it by taking the bottom door hinge off, and removing a little metal in the three bolt holes to give me a little bit more adjustment to be able to push the bottom of the door in.

did you resuse your old hinge? Sounds to me the if you used the same hinge on both doors, and both door stuck out the same, the hinge is the problem.

I did use the same hinges, The top one was bent pretty bad from the door being bent open so I put a different one on. Hopefully I will finish up the rust repair in a couple hours then I can reinstall the door and play with it. I had it set up earlier so that the bottom was lined up and so was the to but then the lower body line was way off like in the pic

On the passenger door on my orange and white. I got it where the top and about half way down lined up but the bottom was still in about where yours is in the last picture. The problem was that the door needed to come out more on the bottom but the lower hinge was already maxed out. I ended up putting 2 washers on each bolt behind the hinge where it mounts to the cab to finally get it where it belonged. Be careful though when doing this. You will need longer bolts or you will strip out the threads. Dont ask how I know. I wish I had pics but didnt take the time to take pics. Hope this helps.

what about the strike plate? will that change anything?

I set my door up in the cab without hooking up the hinges and just set it in the striker plate. I played with it and I could not get the lines to match up, I know this is not the right way. Would it do me anygood to take the hinges and striker plate off and set the door back in and see if the lines match up that way, if they do then I know it is just an adjustment issue. Thanks for all the ideas I never thought of the hinges being maxed out or the striker plate.

I always mounted the hinges loosely to the door first. Then I put the door on the cab and bolt it down. I then just keep adjusting the hinges till when I shut the door everything lines up. If when you shut the door the horizontal door lines are a 1/8" or less lower than the lines on the cab that is fine. Now start to install and adjust your strikers. I always do strikers last. Oh and by the way. Once you got everything where you want it tighten down the hinges to the cab. Dont take them off the cab again. I just unbolt the door from the hinges for painting. Less likely to damage the paint when re installing the doors.
