Will an 87 steering box fit?
I read on here that up to an 87 steering box will fit our trucks. The man at the junk yard says it won't. Help...

I have an 84 Burb box on the longhorn. You will get a faster ratio box , but with metric fittings for the hoses. you can have hoses made if you have the ends. On mine ,I have the long style water pump,so just used the hoses for the box,&changed the fitting in the pump........69 longhorn.

Thanks 69 longhorn. I've got the new style pump, so the newer box will be better. Thanks again,

I'm running the new style pump on mine, the 87 steering gear looks to be the same housing, I'm saving one for my truck if it ever goes bad. The junkyard guy probably didn't know what he was talking about, and just looked in the interchange book. It probably said no, due to the different lines and the ratio.
