Another Cheyenne Super surfaces!

I saw one of my buds at a cruise yesterday and he mentions he just picked up a 72 for a song. Said the glovebox was full of Cheyenne Super emblems. It's got the houndstooth seatcover, chrome trimmed pedals, cargo light and woodgrain door panels and dash bezel/glovebox door.

Re: Another Cheyenne Super surfaces!

I have never seen a stepside Cheyenne Super, without A/C and without side trim. I am wandering if the former owner found one in a junk yard and stripped it to make that one look like it. Does the option sheet on the glove box match the vin plate? Not saying it isnt possible but seems unlikely. Need more info. At least she looks real straight and rust free.

Well, I wonder about it too, there is the remains of the side trim on there, but, a step side would not have gotten it acording to there RPO descriptions.
Either way, it's a sweet truck.
Does it have a headliner in it?
Whats the model number on it. If the VIN on the spid label matches the truck's VIN, then the model number will tell us if it is an original stepside super.

Re: Another Cheyenne Super surfaces!

There was or is a member here who has a SWEET black cheyenne super stepside. They do exist.

It does appear to have had the cheyenne super badging on the fender.

Re: Another Cheyenne Super surfaces!

There were quite a few in 72. Not so many the first year, 71. I think longhorn man has the actual statistics. They were posted here awile back.

Re: Another Cheyenne Super surfaces!

Here's some pics of the glovebox sheet. She's a real super cheyenne.

Of course she was also once a longbed and a fleetside too! My bud was kind of disappointed to find out it wasn't a factory shortbed, but he still has a good start. This also helps explain why he has a one piece driveshaft behind that auto trans and V8. It seems someone swapped the Cheyenne cab and front clip over to a swb frame. I would hate to see what they took off looked like because the roof of this cab looks like dammit in the driprail. I suggested that he be on the lookout for a donor to replace the cab. I found him a really nice swb bedfloor and bedsides for cheap but he said he prefers the stepper. He has a 6cyl 76 chevy he's wanting to put the engine from this truck in, then he will have a new home for his big block!
