Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
dammit I was going to post that truck! yep it is here already and I love that truck I had that for my desktop for awhile actually. I really think this type of thing would look good on a 55-59 chevy but it looks pretty sweet on these trucks as well!

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
My question, is that real, genuine rust or special effects paint?

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
It is starting to get VERY popular...
Kind of like lowered trucks and big wheels. I hope it isn't soon as trendy - to where that's all you see. I like it, but don't want to be blinded with it. |

Here's my wife's truck, we've talked about what to do next if the shop truck thing gets too out of hand.

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
Here's one that I found. I really like this style, but I think it probably only looks good when all the body panels are one color- unlike my circus wagon!

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
kinda close, there's a guy who owns a huge landscaping company here in WPB. they still have his dad's old 54 ford, still original paint(but flat and rusty) and you can still faintly see the company name and stuff on the sides.
next time I see( I'll see him early Nov) it I'll grab a pic |M|

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
After first hearing about this, I thought this was the dumbest thing that anyone thought of. But after looking at some of these pictures, I like it. In fact, it got the wheels rolling for my Dad's old 70 Chev that I inherited just before he died. He used to own a radiator repair shop called Milt's Radiator. I might paint that on the doors and try to find out the first phone number he had (before the 7 digit numbers) and go from there. His slogan was "The Best Place to Take a Leak".

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
I'm 99% positive that the Mac's Garage truck up there (47-48, I think) was recently in one of the classic truck mags - belonged to the guy's dad, who owns the shop (family business).

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
I had a 66 that looked like The 67 Hot Rod City truck (rust wise anyhow) when I lived in Coos Bay Oregon over 20 years ago.. It wasn't by choice that it was rusted, just a natural thing that happens to any vehicle that has scratches, dings, weathered paint and you move to the coast with it. The truck however had a fully rebuilt drivetrain stock and original white paint, looked good.
Then came the move to the coast. Within one year everything is going rust. There is frickin salt in the air! It rains (condensation) inside the cab! I hated it and what it did to my truck. !!#$%&*)()(&*%$#$ I remember driving into a parking lot once and this lady took one look at the truck and curled her upper lip in disgust and held that look as I drove by. I move to Eastern Oregon and gave the truck some paint and it looked much better, however looking back now I wish I had it today just as it was on the coast. While on the coast, I remember having a large overhead camper on and towing a car trailer behind with my spotless , freshly restored Willys Jeep on board. We pulled into a gas station and of course the Jeep drew a small crowd and as I was returning I overheard: "nice Jeep but s*** look at the tow rig!" |

Re: the shop (GARAGE) truck name on door thing ?
What do you think would be a fair price for a c10 SWB fleetside with lots of surface rust and needs motor work? I am thinking about getting another truck and would love to have one of these.
