72 2wd body to 794x4 frame
Has anybody done a swap to put a 67-72 2wd body on a 73-87 4x4 frame? I have a 72 c20 and a 1979 k35 and would like to put them together. Any advise would be greatly appreciated-Lance

Send a message to Mudder, he is using a newer frame and should be of some help.

New body mounts will need to be fabbed up of course but the first thing I'd check would be to make sure the wheelbase agrees between the old and the new.
Sounds like a good/fun project. |

Re: 72 2wd body to 794x4 frame
If I remember on a long bed the wheelbase is 3-6 inches longer on a 73-up...

Re: 72 2wd body to 794x4 frame
if I'm not mistaken the 67-72 longbeds have a 127"wb and the 73-87's have a 131"wb.My plan was to take a longhorn bed 133" and shorten the extension by 2" that should put me at 131".

Why not just shorten the '79 chassis? - if your going to do the body swap the chassis shortening wouldn't be that difficult - If you know how to do it anyway
