SW Gauges

Would I experience any problems with SW gauges ( mechanical) if I put them in a 67-72 truck?? Would the speedo cable end be the same??? Would the gas gauge work right??? etc. etc.

Re: SW Gauges

Someone out there must have used Stewart Warner Gauges at one time or another. I am curious mainly if the speedo cable will work from a 67-72 truck and the sending unit from the tank to the SW fuel gauge??????

Re: SW Gauges

You shouldn't have a problem. Most guage kits come with the correct sending units to operate the gauges. You may have to change the plastic gears in your tranny tail cone to get the speedometer to read correctly. Or you could get a electric speedometer, which will allow you to reprogram it for any tire or gear size.

Re: SW Gauges

I have some old style SW gauges in my truck, they were in when i purchased the truck..the spedo works but reads the incorrect mph, the gas gauge reads backwards: full= almost empty. 1/2=full.... the volts gauge+oil pressure+tach works properly, i havent looked into why the other gauges dont work properly because i am replacing them all with autometers anyway.
