I found a 67 stepside long box! what should I do!
I found it in a local juck yard and they say they can not sell me the whole truck. I was thinking of just buying the box and putting it on another 67 I know of. What do you think guys.

do that...I have a buddy looking to do the same thing. Long steps stand out more in a crowd than all the long beds I think...

So why not buy the bed today--frame tomorrow--cab next week--you get the point, you would own the whole truck in no time!!

Save the bed if you can get it for a decent price.

He can sell you the bed and give you the rest of it if he wants to. Different parts of the country have different laws on the books. Here in Tennessee a small auction house can't by law sell you a pistol, but they can sell you a bullet and give you the gun. If you are willing to pay the right price for the bed you might get what you want. It don't hurt to ask.

Re: I found a 67 stepside long box! what should I do!
Some states will not permit you to pruchace a complete vehicle if it has been in a junk yard. Here in Ohio, they are supposed to remove the entire firewall if you buy the cab, or a vehicle. Some one had the idea that if a car has been junked, then it has no buisness being put back on the r9oad, plus, it is an easier way to control stolen parts usage.
Crew...where you been bud? ain't seen you on here in at least a year. Hope all is well with you. Long steps are certianly odd balls, but, the problem is, most ppl think of them as very undesirable. I'm sure you've heard odd comments on your crew cab, about it being ugly, or looking funny, or even the ocasional why on earth... But, like your crew cab, the long step side trucks do have a small following. I say, even if you don't intend on putting it to use yourself, if you have the space, time, and money, get that bed, and set it aside for someone else who would give there right arm for that...esp with it being a 67, the obscure of obscurities. |

I used to call the long steps, "the ugliest trucks in America"...until I saw one lowered, wheels, tires, paint, etc. I then said, I would drive one of those!.

Well, you are right. the junk yard said they can not sell whole cars legally.
they do not have a licence. I think I am going to see how much he will take for the box. long horn, I have been going to school again. and have a new job. good thing is I dont have to work over time any more so I have been working on my truck. I will post some pics of progress and the step side when I get a chance. thanks guys! I LIKE FUGLY TRUCKS!!!!!

Re: I found a 67 stepside long box! what should I do!
Out here in Cali. they sell complete vehicles out of pick-a-part all the time. Thats where I found my truck.A 1972 custom camper. I saw it coming in on the tow truck and stopped the driver and inquired about it. He told me that a woman caught her old man cheating on her and sent his truck to the junk yard!! It has a 1973 454,steel crank,Milodon 7qt oil pan,Edelbrock performer intake, headers, mallory ignition th400 with a strong shift kit and a dana 60 4.10 posi. NO RUST!! all this for 1000! If I come across anything like it I will post it.

i thought i did,t like the looks of them, but lookk great on a 4wd check out lawman 02's truck. if it's in nice shape and the price is right i say buy it, if for nothing else the fenders but woud also be easier to shorten than a fleet box

I would LOVE to have a long stepside bed. Around here, though, I have only seen one (and the guy wanted WAY too much money for it). I would be willing to trade my fleetside bed w/wood floor for a stepside at any time. Guess I'll just keep waiting.
