Talking A great neighbor

My neighbor came over the other day. As it's always good to be neighborly, he broght something with him.
A pair of high compression BBC heads and a new box of 8.5 MM MSD plug wires.
The heads are bare and have been worked over pretty good. They are originally 101 compression oval ports but have been hogged out for square port intakes.
He said they would probably just sit around his garage and take up space. Figured I could use them. What a great neighbor!
Anyone else have a great neighbor?

Re: A great neighbor

That was right neighborly of him. More than that! Maybe you could tune up his ride sometime or something. Great neighbors are hard to come by.

Re: A great neighbor

Every week this past summer, I would come home to my freshly mowed grass thanks to my neighbor. I have a key to his pickup to use whenever I need, and he will come to me and make sure its OK for him to use his truck!!!! I also do a lot for him with keeping his vehicles running, etc. That is really cool about the BBC stuff though!!!

My neighbors come over to see the truck and bring me something better, a nice cold beer!

Mine are great though...One is currently rebuilding a very old John Deere tractor...

Re: A great neighbor

must be nice! all my neighbors do is complain about my compressor in the middle of the day and call animal control on my dogs when my dogs catch a burglar breaking into my neighbors house!

I miss my old neighbors! they weren't into cars or trucks but as long as i quieted everything down around 930 or 100 they were happy as could be

My neighbor borrows the 18 foot car trailer to haul logs on and destroys both of the fenders, he appologizes but no reimbusment. I pick his drunk ass up when he is passed out in the middle of the road in front of his house though

That sounds way to familiar, my neighbours have complained about my dogs from day one simply because they are big and apparently scary looking. I have a neighbour with three teenage sons between 15-19 who are allowed to drink and have parties whenever they feel like it and it usually ends in them and their friends smashing beer bottles against my garage. Oh yeah, none of them like my old vehicles parked at the back of my yard.

This is the first house I've ever owned and it feels so good to tell them where to go when they complain.

Re: A great neighbor

I got a neighbor across the street who has a late 70's El Camino, 502 BBC crate motor. We share tuning secrets and parts when needed. The man who brought the BBC heads over is a new neighbor. He's a young gun with a 70 Camaro, BBC-tunnel ram, and a baby on the way. Looking good around here. We're thinking of renaiming our street "Chevy Court" or "Gasoline Alley". The guy with the El Camino has Dauchshunds. He suggested "Weiner Way". We all said... "NOT"! (HEHEHE)

Re: A great neighbor

My neighbour at my French house is great, after we'd had our new road put it I arrived to find someone had ploughed, harrowed and rolled all the land that had been disturbed during the building of it so it was ready for seeding, turned out to be my neighbour Maurice, he also dragged my sorry assed 4x4 out of the mud with his tractor when I got it stuck axle deep. I can only understand about one word in five he says though as my French ain't great, and even worse French is also a second language for him he's a native Occitan speaker which is an ancient language spoken in parts of south west France so he has a really tough accent, but we get buy, he even has a fridge full of cold beer in his barn!

Re: A great neighbor

My neighbor just gave me a 67-8 GMC LWB 3/4ton 4X4! Man you beat me to the post. I'll post some picts, those BBC heads are worth some $$$ what's the casting date on em? I have a set of 66 98cc oval ports. They will work great on the 454 in my Blazer with the peanut port heads, I am thinking a cam and those heads 'll wake up mr grumpy!! The motor the heads came from also had a factory high rise cast iron intake manifold, so that'll go on the Blazer as well, it outta have a ton more torqu and some grrr to go with it, BTW scope ebay for valves and springs, guidplates etc they are on there all the time and you'll save a ton!! Where are you in CO? I come up every couple of months to han out, usually in Durango, took the San Juan Skyway trip the last time. My brother was stationed in Clorado Springs in the early 80's, it is beautiful country!!

Re: A great neighbor

My neighbor's got a '67 he's putting on a '72 SWB frame and dropping with 22's. Neither of us have a garage, and neither of us have been doing a whole lot to our trucks lately.

I've only talked to the guy once when he was working outside, I work nights and sleep all day, including the weekends, so I guess I'm the bad neighbor this time around. He's got a '67 bed he needs to get rid of, and I never even got around to snapping pics and sticking them up here for him. Yet.

Re: A great neighbor

I don't have any neighbors half the time, but when they are here, they don't bother much. They are snobby New-Yorkers, but hey, they put up with a lot and don't complain. I almost ran into the guy once head on with an old John Deere model B, opened up in 6th gear. He didn't think much of me after that (go figure), plus every time they had a little get together, I'd always ride by their camp with the dunebuggy and stomp on it, speedshifting from 1st to 2nd. Good times.
