I called Bowtie Overdrives today

And asked for a quote for a 700r4. Its not as much as I thought it would be but its definitely going to take some time to save up for it. Here is the breakdown

Priced out a Level 2 which was $1100,
pdq heavy duty torque converter $175
Kugel Shifter $44.95
Dust cover $37.25
Dipstick $35.00
Tv Sys for the qjet $119.95
Brake Switch $ 28.00
Tranny Lines $129.00
Speedo Gears $70.00
Flex Plate $40.00
Installers kit $69.95
Yoke 69.00

and the crate fees $60.00
shipping & handling $ 88.46
and lets not forgot the taxes $153.31 YIKES!!

Grand Damage $2219.87

Now after looking at this I realise that I can get some of this stuff a lot cheaper. Probably knock at least $100-300 off of that price. Then after getting this quote I ask myself OD tranny or that $2000 could get the cab media blasted, primered and clear coated. Decisions Decisions Decisions.

Re: I called Bowtie Overdrives today

I spoke to Bowtie Overdrive at the Goodguys show in Scottsdale and I was very impressed by their products. I am planning on purchasing from them and what really sold me was that they do not start the warranty until the project is completed and running. I would shop around for the little things like flexplate, cover and trans lines.

I figured since I had them on the phone lets list it all out This way I know what I need. It's going to be a few months before I can even attempt to buy it with the holidays coming up.

Re: I called Bowtie Overdrives today

You only need the brake switch because the tranny will already be wired with their lock-up kit?

if your going to go that route and spend $2200 - why not spend a couple extra hundred and get a GearVendors Overdrive - super strong and you'll make you 3 speed auto into a 6 speed auto

Very true! I originally did mine with all 'yard parts and then bought a rebuilt tranny with the TV and lock-up kits. I only have about $1,200 into my set-up.

After doing some calling around this morning I have found a few places that will rebuild a 700r4 for a few hundred dollars cheaper. I just have to bring a core in. I was thinking about the gear vendors unit but I think it would be over kill in my case. If i was going to do any towing then I would keep the 400 turbo and go with the gear vendors for sure.

They probably would give you a better price once they know you aren't just shopping around. Ask for a package price , never hurts to ask.

That's just crazy, might as well go to a 5-speed manual trans.
